Research Question: Can colleges students be able to afford to eat organically?
- Now even though this question was the main topic of my paper, I barely found any information based on college students being able to afford eating an organic diet. So I had to change my question around a little bit. Since I'm coming from a middle class family, I researched middle class families eating organically vs eating process food. But because my paper was considered different because I'm doing a self-experiment paper, I was able to benefit off of both information I'd research.
Bias: Organic food is expensive and unaffordable for a college student.
- After my self -experiment , I was able to identified that I, as a college student, could not financially afford to eat organically. I feel as though doing the self experiment helped me more rather than just looking up information because this way I had first hand information and I was my own primary source. I got to see for myself how much money I would be spending if I was going to eat organically rather than reading on some one else information about eating organically.
Thesis Statement: Can I as a college student be able to afford to eat organically?
-Once again my paper is a little different from your average research paper. My thesis statement was more of a question rather than a statement. In the paper, you get to see how I start to reveal if I am able or unable to afford to eat organically so the answer is reveal as the paper continues to go on. I was able to found out that I was unable to afford to eat organically.
Purpose: Inform
- I believe the purpose me writing my paper was to inform my audience. I wanted to let them know how I as a college student wanted to eat organically, but I couldn't financially afford it. I wanted them to see from a college student perspective how you can try to eat healthy and it doesn't have to do with age, race, or gender preference but more with your finances.
Audience: College Students, Young Adults
- My goal was to aim towards my peers such as other college students and general young adults. Majority of young people think they can eat whatever they want whenever they want and they can worry about their help when they get older. The truth is that you have to take care of yourself when your younger so when you get older, you don't have to worry about help problems and can live a healthier life.
Research Process: Food Inc, Self Experiment, Resources
-One of my major resources I have is the movie Food Inc which we watched in class so I think I had to go back to my notes to refresh my memorial on the movie and make sure I put the main important notes in my paper. My self experiment was my main resource for this paper. I also used one other resource from an article I found online which gave information on middle class families be unable to eat organically because it was too expensive.
